FALLS CHURCH, Va. – General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT), a business unit of General Dynamics, announced today the appointment of retired Maj. Gen. Garrett S. Yee as vice president and general manager of its Army sector.
GDIT’s support for the U.S. Army includes modernization and sustainment operations, simulation-based training solutions, and comprehensive logistics and supply chain management systems. Yee will be responsible for driving growth and innovation and meeting customer needs, including providing specialized technology solutions and services in areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, 5G and high-performance computing that improve the security, effectiveness and efficiency of our nation’s warfighters.
Previously, Yee served as the assistant to the director of the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), providing executive leadership for the agency’s $13 billion information technology portfolio. He led the agency’s 19,000 military, civilian and contract workforce that provides IT support to the president, secretary of defense, Joint Chiefs of Staff, combatant commanders, and Department of Defense components. Prior to his role at DISA, Yee served as military deputy and chief information security officer for the Army CIO/G-6 at the Pentagon.
During his career, Yee served in several strategic command and operational assignments in the Middle East and the United States. His combat deployments included Operation Inherent Resolve in Middle East, where he served as the director of cyber information systems for the Combined Joint Task Force, and Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan, where he served as deputy commander of the 335th signal command in Afghanistan. He also served as a theater observation detachment officer during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Yee, a native of Fremont, Calif., received his commission in the Army upon graduation from Santa Clara University. He later earned a Master of Business Administration from Golden Gate University and Master of Science in Strategic Studies from the Army War College.
