Job Description

Software Developer Sr Advisor - Motion Imagery

A career as a Software Developer Sr. Advisor – Motion Imagery at GDIT means being a critical part of successful data outcomes. Here, your work can accelerate solutions for our clients while you accelerate your career. As a software developer for motion imagery solutions, you will be updating existing software that manipulates compressed video (e.g. AVC/HEVC video data) and combines it with relevant AI/ML/CV and other data science algorithms for enhanced motion imagery intelligence analysis.  Software expertise desired includes Web programming, C++, Python and the Rust programming languages.  Own the opportunity to provide our clients with the data they need to turn insights and ideas into action.

At GDIT, people are our differentiators. As a Software Developer Sr. Advisor, you will help ensure today is safe and tomorrow is smarter. Our work depends on a Software Developer Sr. Advisor joining our team to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems. You will work with collaborative teams to perform technical activities that impact the design, testing, and implementation of systems, software, and applications, including full motion video (FMV) processing capabilities.

HOW A SOFTWARE DEVELOPER SR ADVISOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

  • Researches, designs, develops, and/or modifies enterprise-wide systems and/or applications software
  • Provide a proactive mindset to maintain and update video encoding technology as part of our overall development environment
  • As part of the team, you will support Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery pipeline activities involving end-to-end system performance validation efforts with a focus on communicating effectively with customers, team members, and end users
  • You will work independently under pressure and effectively identify, recommend, and problem solve system issues to ensure systems, software, and applications are properly configured to meet customer needs

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

Education: BA/BS Degree or equivalent

Required Experience: 7 years of related technical experience

Required Technical Skills:

  • Experience developing complex software in the Web, C++ and/or Rust programming language
  • Experience on teams working complex software development tasks leveraging agile, hybrid-agile, and traditional predictive project management constructs.
  • Experience architecting, training, optimizing, deploying, and retraining operationally focused AI/ML capabilities.
    • Preference for CV (object detection/tracking) capabilities and/or LLM based summarization capabilities.
  • Experience guiding new data scientists through model architecture selection/down-select events with a focus on selecting architectures geared towards supporting ultra-low latency tasks.
  • Experience/familiarity with Motion Imagery Standards Board (MISB) concepts, encoding methodology, metadata constructs, and other community standards artifacts.
  • Experience normalizing AI/ML/CV based object detection model outputs into sidecar formats delivered synchronously with streaming video data.
    • Preference for capabilities that leverage the MISB 0903.x standard.
  • Experience leveraging NVIDIA architectures/capabilities (CUDA, Triton, nvEnc/Dec) to accelerate various computationally expensive data transformation/normalization tasks.
  • Experience mentoring junior staff through complex tasks specific to working in DoD/IC Secure Enclaves.
    • Preference for understanding of tasks required to achieve IATT/ATO in various DoD/IC Secure Enclaves.
  • Experience hardening external/commercial dependencies for deployment into DoD/IC Secure Enclaves.
  • Experience developing capabilities in DoD/IC Secure Enclaves and leveraging CI/CD pipelines to either accelerate deployment of capabilities developed low/to deploy high, or to migrate low side repos for use in DoD/IC Secure Enclaves.
  • Experience with build tools like Jenkins, GitHub actions, Gitlab, etc.
  • Python

Desired Technical Skills:
